Are You Sure Your Sprinklers Are Off?

More rain is forecast today, so please refrain from unnecessary water works.

Given all the dramatics—thunder! lightning! postponed water polo match!—it's a little disappointing that only 0.24 inches of rain had accumulated by 10 p.m. Tuesday. Long Beach and Torrance each accumulated more precipitation during the 24 hour period ending at 10 p.m., tallying 0.61 inches and 0.58 inches respectively.

There's more wet stuff forecast for today, so we may still catch up. If you're worried about flooding, don't forget to stop by the city yard for sandbags, which are available to residents.

And if you feel sick about the possibly that your dog's waste might run off into the ocean with the storm, by all means contact Doodie Fresh, a San Pedro company that is offering one free cleanup to new customers as part of its own mission to heal the bay.
