Blotter: Thief Steals 22 iPads

The following information was supplied by the Redondo Beach and Torrance police departments. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The Redondo Beach Police Department investigated multiple burglaries this past week, according to the department's Part I crime recap covering reports received Oct. 11 through Wednesday.

In addition, the Torrance Police Department investigated one residential burglary in the Hollywood Riviera—the area of Torrance where many residences and businesses have a Redondo Beach address—over the past two weeks.

Street robbery in Redondo Beach

Two men drove up to a group of victims in a parking lot in the 2200 block of 190th Street and demanded property shortly before 12:15 a.m. Oct. 11. The victims fled; no loss was reported. Witnesses described the would-be robbers as two black men driving a silver Infiniti G35.

A woman walked into Target in North Redondo Beach at various points between Sunday and Monday, exchanged bar codes on multiple pieces of merchandise and left paying a reduced amount. The value of the loss was unknown.

Twenty-two iPads were stolen from a business in the 1600 block of South Pacific Coast Highway in Riviera Village after the culprit entered the business and removed the locks from the iPad charging cases. The theft occurred between 11:30 a.m. Oct. 12 and 8:30 a.m. Monday.

Residential burglary in Redondo Beach

Guns, silver dollars, women's jewelry, change, keys and a pillowcase were stolen from a home in the 400 block of South Irena Avenue in the early afternoon of Oct. 11 after a burglar climbed in through a rear window.

Residential burglary in the Hollywood Riviera

A burglar removed the screen and pried open a window in a home in the 200 block of Via Los Altos in Torrance at some point during the evening of Oct. 13. The thief ransacked the place and took jewelry, an iPod Touch, an iPad and a pillowcase.

Vehicle burglary in Redondo Beach

A burglar entered a Toyota Prius parked in the 1400 block of Hawthorne Boulevard in the evening of Oct. 12 and stole an iPhone 5 and a pair of sunglasses.

Stolen vehicles in Redondo Beach

A blue 1989 Toyota Camry, license plate No. 2PUA663, was stolen from the 2100 block of Perkins Lane at some point between Monday night and Tuesday morning.

A black 2005 Mercedes C240, license plate No. 5MHA871, was stolen from the 500 block of Avenue G at some point between the evening of Oct. 10 and the early morning of Oct. 12.
