Car Wash to Raise Funds for Ruiz Funeral

A car wash will be held at Hope Chapel in Hermosa Beach to raise money to pay for the funeral expenses of Redondo Shores graduate Priscilla Ruiz.

Friends of Priscilla Monique Ruiz, the 19-year-old graduate who was killed in a car collision, will be hosting a car wash to raise money so her family can pay for her funeral, according to numerous Facebook posts and event listings.

"Everyone, please come out tomorrow to get your car washed … to help raise money for my wonderful girlfriend Priscilla Ruiz that God chose to take from us so early," wrote Ricky Evans, Ruiz's boyfriend, in a public Facebook post.

According to Evans, the car wash will be held at the parking lot at 2420 Pacific Coast Hwy. in Hermosa Beach from and from .

Ruiz died after her on Grant Avenue near Rindge Lane and crashed into a taxi at about 3 a.m. Saturday.

Police have confirmed that the driver's side airbag in her car did not deploy.

The taxi driver and his two passengers were injured in the crash.

Friends told Patch that Ruiz was a sweet, shy woman who was friends with everyone.

A visitation at Rice Mortuary on Torrance Boulevard is scheduled for 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday. Ruiz's funeral is set for 10 a.m. Monday at Hope Chapel. A reception will follow the service.
