FEC Complaint Filed Over Robo-Calls

A volunteer for Republican Craig Huey's congressional campaign files an FEC complaint against Janice Hahn.

A volunteer with Republican 's campaign filed a complaint with the Federal Elections Commission on Thursday over robo-calls made in support of Huey's rival, Los Angeles City Councilwoman , a Democrat, in the runoff for the seat, the Daily Breeze reported.

Redondo Beach resident William Schmidt, 63, filed the complaint, saying that the calls, which were placed June 23, don't identify who paid for them.

"These are illegal robo-calls that were made throughout the entire district," Schmidt told the Daily Breeze. He added Huey's organizers are "running an absolutely stellar campaign."

Schmidt also alleges that the phone number appearing on Caller ID displays is disconnected.

The calls present themselves as being from "Judy," a Republican woman who lives in Torrance, who says that Huey aims to "privatize Social Security and end Medicare."

Earlier in June, Hahn's campaign filed an FEC complaint against Huey's campaign, alleging the Republican's campaign was connected to Turn Right USA, a Super PAC which produced a YouTube video .

Hahn and Huey were the top two vote-getters in the recent to determine who would replace former Rep. Jane Harman, who resigned earlier this year.
