New Restaurant Is 'Grillish'

Grillish is a brand new seafood restaurant in Riviera Village.

There's a brand new seafood restaurant in Riviera Village— opened just last week. The restaurant's nautical-themed decor includes everything from minature life preservers to boats, oars, and even recipes for seafood favorites like boiled lobster and clam chowder on a large chalkboard.

The menu is similar to other quick service seafood restaurants like in Redondo Beach and California Fish Grill in El Segundo. They have the ever-popular fish tacos, fried and grilled entrees, sandwiches, wraps and bowls with your choice of fish. There's a few chicken dishes for friends who want like to tag along but don't care for fish.

I had the mahi mahi plate ($9.99), which came with white rice, coleslaw, and bread.

The mahi mahi was drenched in a butter sauce, which added a nice sweet flavor to the flaky and slightly charred fish. It was a good portion that left me pretty full by the time I was done with it.

If the al dente rice didn't have enough carbs, the bread made up for it. The bread had a chewy, crusty exterior while the inside was nice and fluffy.

I'm not really a fan of coleslaw, but I gave it a try. The cabbage was very crunchy and the raisins added a nice sweetness to it. The mayo was creamy and thankfully did not dominate the entire serving.

Although this restaurant just opened, I'm glad that the dining experience went off without a hitch. I look forward to trying more of what Grillish has to offer, and I hope it sticks around for many years to come.

Grillish is located at 1700 S. Catalina Ave. in South Redondo Beach.
