The "Friendship Pledge" will be signed Tuesday evening.

Redondo Beach Mayor Mike Gin and Itoman City, Okinawa, Japan Mayor Hirotsune Uehara will sign an official "Friendship Pledge" between the two cities at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Accompanied by the Redondo Beach City Council, Gin will sign the document in the council chambers at the same time as Uehara will sign his version in Japan. The two cities will be linked via videoconference during the ceremony.

Due to the time difference, it will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Japan when Uehara signs the pledge.
