Letter: Waterfront Workshops an 'Elaborate Hoax'?

With the impending demolition of the octagon building beside the Redondo Beach Pier, Barbara Epstein wonders whether residents really have a say in the waterfront process.

Editor's note: The following letter was sent to District 5 Councilman Matt Kilroy. The author gave permission for it to be published here.

I voted for a merry-go-round, others suggested a marine study use.

We now are getting suspicious that these public meetings are nothing but an exercise to fool the public into believing we actually have something to say about the future of the pier and harbor. We now realize that the public meetings are likely an elaborate hoax and all the decisions have already been made for us, whether we like the outcomes or not.
