Living Christmas Co. to Appear on 'Shark Tank'

Will there be a Christmas miracle for Scott Martin and the Living Christmas Co. on ABC's "Shark Tank"?

A Redondo Beach company will get its turn in the spotlight Tuesday night when it appears on the primetime ABC television show Shark Tank.

Scott Martin—also known as "Scotty Claus," the owner of Christmas-tree rental business the Living Christmas Co.—will make an appearance on a special holiday edition of Shark Tank, which will also feature pitches for gluten-free fudge, a cellphone accessory and an indoor/outdoor play space, according to the show's official website.

On Shark Tank, entrepreneurs pitch their businesses and ideas to a group of "Sharks"—business tycoons, including Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, looking to invest in up-and-coming companies. In exchange for a cash infusion, the sharks gain equity in the company.

"(The Sharks will) be feeling a little bit generous" on Tuesday, says a promotional commercial for the show. "And one Christmas pitch … might make this Scrooge smile."

Though the website doesn't specifically state Martin will appear on the show, the promotional trailer is full of images of his bearded face.

According to SharkTankBlog, a website about the show but unaffiliated with ABC, the biggest challenge Martin may face on the show is the local nature of the company.

"They may be doing big business in L.A., but what are the prospects for growth?" writes blogger Rob Merlino. "This will most likely be the Sharks' biggest objection. If Scott Martin can demonstrate the Christmas Tree rental business can be duplicated, he will garner some interest."

Additionally, Merlino writes that the timing of the episode's broadcast could help Martin's cause:

Surely ABC wouldn’t air a segment where Christmas is sent packing; one of the Sharks will make an offer just to keep the Christmas spirit alive. The question remains, which one of the Sharks will be “the Shark who saved Christmas?”

Shark Tank will air Tuesday on ABC (Channel 7) at 8 p.m.
