The checkpoint is part of a national anti-DUI campaign, according to the Redondo Beach Police Department.
The Redondo Beach Police Department has scheduled a DUI and driver's license checkpoint for Saturday night at 6 p.m., according to a news release sent out Thursday.

Police did not disclose the exact location of the checkpoint, only saying that it would be within the Redondo Beach city limits.
The checkpoint is part of a national end-of-summer campaign known as "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over." Nearly 10,000 other law-enforcement agencies have joined the effort.
In 2009, more than 10,800 people died in crashes related to driving under the influence, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Had so many not been killed by drivers who only had "2" beers there would be no need for: as you put it "Nazi Checkpoints". Your life may have been save because of one of thos checkpoints. Don't be so anal.

Joe, I guess if you were in Germany in 1940 you would support the Nazi checkpoints and very glad the Gestapo operated them.

Well Wolfman, at least no one could ever accuse you of being over the top or completely ridiculous with your attempt at equating Nazi Germany with DUI checkpoints. I guess Mothers Against Drunk Drivers is really the SS in disguise and freedoms just another word for being free to drive buzzed on the holiday weekend.

Joe, I think you had better learn and understand checkpoints before making ridiculous posts like the one you made above as checkpoints are not only for DUI
