Sweet Treats at Artesia Donut House

This Redondo Beach doughnut staple offers tasty pastries and excellent coffee.

With summer usually comes the need to keep yourself in tip-top shape, but a little treat every now and again never hurt anyone. is just the place to grab a quick, sinful pastry and coffee without breaking the bank.

This doughnut shop feels a bit more roomy than most because it has more seating. It carries the typical fare of doughnut, bear claws, crullers and even some croissant sandwiches whose popularity rivals the store's namesake treat.

For $1.65, I had a chocolate cake doughnut, which fortunately was not sweet enough to put me in a sugar coma. The texture was thick but moist, although it wasn't spongelike.

The coffee is self-serve with a selection of sugar and creamers. Employees boast that the coffee is always fresh; they are right. Most customers that were behind me in line were quick to pour themselves a cup. While it will not give you a caffeine jolt, it is smooth and a nice way to start the morning.

The staff was friendly and very efficient as the line continued to grow throughout my short stay. This shop has been around for years and it was easy to see why. My experience here was very similar to the one at .

The choice between the two shops boils down to two things: where you are in Redondo Beach, and whether you have cash with you. Unlike , Artesia Donut House takes all types of payment.

Additionally, Artesia Donut House is roomier with plenty of places to sit down and relax; however, both places are just as enjoyable for a sweet treat every once in awhile.
