Bloodmobile Visits Redondo Beach Today

Here are some things to look forward to today in Redondo Beach.

Happy Tuesday! Here are five things Redondo Beach residents should know today:

  1. The California Energy Commission will conduct its first site visit of the AES Redondo Beach Generating Station and public hearing, kicking off the process to repower the old power plant on Harbor Drive. The hearing will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center at 1935 Manhattan Beach Blvd. in North Redondo Beach. The Redondo Beach City Council meeting for this week has been canceled due to the site visit.
  2. Feel like donating blood? Whole Foods is hosting a Red Cross blood drive at the Redondo Beach market from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. today. More information is available on the community calendar.
  3. To sign up for breaking news alerts, visit our breaking news category and click "Get email updates." (If it says you're signed up, but you're not receiving the alerts, click "Unsubscribe." Then click "Get email updates" to resubscribe. That should fix the issue.)
  4. In case you missed it, Monday's top headline was Firefighters Put Out Practice Fires in Redondo Beach.
  5. Today's photo of the day is from last year's Battle of the Badges blood drive. Want to submit your own photo? Email it to redondobeach@patch.com; tweet it to @RedondoBchPatch; post it on the Redondo Beach Patch Facebook page; or tag it #rbpatch on Instagram.
