Shopping center steps up to provide new, healthy initiatives to its community
South Bay Galleria has launched a series of healthy living initiatives to help community members live healthier lives including the introduction of “Healthy Food Options” guides throughout the food court and mall, as well as community events for both adults and children that encourage physical activity and good health.
The shopping center’s new healthy living campaign is inspired by the Beach Cities Health District’s Vitality City initiative, with the goal to create a more walkable, bikeable, healthy and socially engaged community—where the healthy choice is the easier, more appealing option; increasing the longevity and well-being of the Beach Cities’ communities.
"South Bay Galleria has taken the idea of a happy, healthy community to heart. We are doing our part by ensuring that healthy options are easy options, while providing an active environment for our shoppers,” explained Mickey Marraffino, Regional Marketing Director of South Bay Galleria. “As one of the South Bay’s leading shopping centers, we know that people will make healthier choices if those choices are readily available to them in every part of their lives, including their visits to the mall.”
According to Marraffino, these new healthy initiatives will help South Bay Galleria’s customers and community members live happier lives, which will ultimately lead to longevity, as outlined in the book “The Blue Zones,” which inspired the Vitality City program.
