The biggest name in Jewish music today, 8th Day, will be doing their first major show in Redondo Beach, the home town of their lead guitarist and founder Bentzi Marcus. The show, a Chanukah celebration hosted by the JCC being dubbed The Big Event: Concert & Comedy will feature the 8th Day Band and renown Hollywood Comedian Mark Schiff.
The Big Event will be held on December 8, 2012 at 7:30pm at the JCC 2108 Vail Ave in Redondo Beach. The event is open to the entire community. Tickets can be purchased at jccmb.com/thebigevent
8th Day, which was co-founded by brothers Shmuel and Bentzi Marcus, has quickly become Jewish Music’s hottest act. The group has released four studio albums that get regular air play on the Jewish radio across the world.
They have played hundreds of shows across the globe in venues like Lincoln Center in New York City, American Airlines Arena in Miami, Universal Citywalk in Hollywood, and they've performed internationally in places such as Israel, Australia, Spain and Hong Kong.
8th Day’s fresh and unique sound is complimented by their catchy lyrics, mostly English with some Hebrew and Yiddish mixed in, and their spirited vocal harmonies. In 2011 their mega YouTube hit “Ya’alili” was voted one of the top singles in Israel, and with over 1.5 million hits became the most watched Jewish music video.
Mark Schiff has headlined in all the major casinos and clubs across the country and has appeared many times on both The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Late Night with David Letterman. He has had both HBO and Showtime specials, and has been the featured act at the Montreal Comedy Festival. He has written for and guest starred on Mad About You, as well appearing on Empty Nest and serving as a writer on The Roseanne Show.
