2-Time Pac-10 Women’s Soccer Coach of the Year is New South Bay Force Director

South Bay Force Soccer Club adds former Arizona Wildcats Head Coach to High Caliber Coaching Staff just in time for Tryouts

is thrilled to announce that two-time Pac-10 Women’s Soccer Coach of the year and Hermosa Beach native Dan Tobias is the new Director of Coaching for its Girls program. Tobias’ college success is expected to elevate the already successful girl’s program to a new level and broaden its talent pool.  In addition to directing the program, Tobias will also coach two teams: Girls Under 17 and Girls Under 15. The announcement comes just weeks before tryouts begin, positioning the South Bay Force among the most competitive girls soccer clubs in the region.

South Bay Force is the leading soccer club in the South Bay. Its teams have won two national titles in two years. Numerous current players have been selected for ODP (U.S. Soccer’s Olympic Development Program) and alumni include current and former college players, national team players, and MLS and WPS players.

“South Bay Force has some of the best girls teams in the region, and that’s due to a talented coaching staff. We’re excited about Dan taking a leadership role and making our girls program even better,” says Greg Yorke, club president.  “Dan has a demonstrated ability to build programs, and we look forward to Dan elevating what we’ve already achieved as well as expanding the girls program.”

Tobias is a two-time Pac-10 Coach of the Year (2002, 2004), who has also been recognized on the national level as the 2004 Coach of the Year by Soccer America and as the West Region Coach of the Year by both the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and Soccer Buzz.  He spent seven seasons at The University of Arizona where he quickly established the Wildcat Soccer Program, which had not finished with a winning record in 10 years, as a Pacific-10 conference, regional and national contender.

"I'm honored to be joining the South Bay Force and grateful to the board, Todd Saldana and Jim Millinder.” Said Dan Tobias.  “Being a native of Hermosa Beach, a Costa alum and having played for the club when it began as The Hurricanes, it's exciting to have this opportunity and I'm ready to get started."

The mission of South Bay Force is to be the premier youth soccer club in the South Bay by providing the highest quality coaching available to athletes who are committed to the game.  South Bay Force is committed to providing players with the tools necessary to develop and reach their potential as soccer players from the youngest ages.  For more information visit www.southbayforce.net.

Mary, I read your posts throughout the Measure A campaign. You may want to re-read your posts whenRead More you cast stones about "dividing a city". There wasn't much substantiation to any of your posts-- mostly just attacks on Jim Light. Do Aspel and Ginsburg condone this sort of behavior since you are such a strong voice for them?

http://www.prado2013.com/ Voters should read this before casting their ballot. Dianne Prado,Read More former District 1 candidate, exposes the electioneering, intimidation and cronyism of this campaign.

Perhaps we should just turn our heads and let the City Council violate the law. Is that what youRead More would do Mr H? The City Charter is the law of Redondo. The Council chose knowingly to violate it. When the judge found them in violation, the same Council doubled the costs with a frivolous appeal. This time three judges threw it out. Had the Council followed the Charter, there would be zero costs. If you want to hold anyone accountable, it should be those who cast the vote to violate the City Charter and disenfranchise the voters of Redondo. You should not hold me and the over 200 residents who contributed to the lawsuit to uphold the City Charter responsible for the Council's illegal action.

We are still waiting for someone -- perhaps the author of this post -- to make a coherent,Read More fact-based argument in favor of Mr. Diels. With all due respect, conclusory hopes and dreams of "reform" will not get 'er done in the face of Mr. Diels' voting record as City Councilman. Thankfully, one good thing has come of the author's blog post. The facts and blog posts have vindicated the honesty and integrity of the campaigns run by Dawn Esser and Chris Cagle, against a baseless attack by Mrs. Diels. If I had a magic mand, I would wave it and change the City Charter so that Dawn and Chris could share the position of Treasurer.

Mr. Azouz: Thank you. I am glad some neighbors find value in what I do, but more importantly IRead More respect the fact that you take the time to do your own homework. If you have expertise in a particular area that can benefit the City, feel free to contact me off line. That goes for anyone. After the election, I have a "big idea" that I want to promote for our City. When Bill Brand and Steve Aspel both agree that my idea is promising, then I think we are on the right track. I'll be curious to learn what the City Manager has to say.
