AES Redondo Beach has installed three pet waste stations along its property on N. Habor Drive, the company announced in a press release.
The three stations are located in front of the AES building and along the lawn down N. Harbor Drive and will be stocked and accessible 24/7 according to the release.
“Redondo residents and their furry friends regularly exercise along Harbor Drive’s beautiful waterfront, but pet owners don’t always have the supplies they need when man’s best friend has ‘gotta go,’” AES spokeswoman Clarissa Cordova said in the press release. “The stations were installed in an effort to help reduce storm water pollution and make the lawn area both sanitary and an enjoyable place for residents to play with their pets.”
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, improper disposal of pet waste can cause significant water pollution because it can be picked up by stormwater runoff and end up in the ocean. Bacteria, parasites and viruses found in pet wastes can also threaten human and wildlife health.
The company will handle waste disposal on its property, the release said.
