Dog of the Week: Bear

Bear is a 4-year-old pit bull who needs a permanent loving home or foster family.

Bear, a 4-year-old pit bull, desperately needs a permanent loving home or foster family, according to the Lovejoy Foundation.

According to the foundation, Bear's family has been "forced to re-home him due to a terrible motorcycle accident that requires (the father) to endure ongoing procedures and surgeries. They have run out of time to continue to keep (Bear) and are considering taking him to the pound."

Bear is gentle, socialized, loving, playful and trained, and he is good with children and other dogs, according to the foundation.

While an adoptive family would be ideal, the organization is also looking for a foster family. The Lovejoy Foundation will pay for all medical needs and food for Bear and provide his crate, collar, leash and flea treatments.

"All the foster needs to do is love him, walk him, give him a structured environment and bring him to and from adoptions on Saturday and Sunday," the foundation said in a Facebook post.
