A blown transformer knocked out power to about 200 customers in western Torrance on Thursday and darkened traffic signals in the area, but all power was restored late in the afternoon, authorities said.

The problem at Anza Avenue and Emerald Street was reported around midmorning, according to Torrance police.

Traffic signals were out at Torrance and Hawthorne boulevards, at Hawthorne Boulevard and Fashion Way, at Torrance Boulevard and Plaza Lane, and at Torrance Boulevard and Anza Avenue, police said.

"All power was restored within the last hour," Torrance police Sgt. Robert Watt said about 4:30 p.m.
