Pet of the Week: Alex (Adopted!)

Update (5/6/2011): Alex has been adopted! His brother, Kaluna, is still looking for a loving home.

Alex, a handsome 9-month-old Great Dane/pit bull mix, was taken in with his brother Kaluna from a divorced couple who could no longer care for them.

Despite his breeding, Alex is "an absolute love" and has shown no aggression toward other dogs, according to Erin Lovejoy of the Lovejoy Foundation. Nevertheless, she said he hasn't been exposed to cats, so the ideal owner would not have a cat.

The ideal owner would be an active person, as well as someone who's knowledgeable about the bully breeds, Lovejoy said.

Alex is neutered, up-to-date on his routine shots and house trained.
