Santa Gets Redondo Beach Police and Fire Escort

Santa Claus is busy visiting the neighborhoods of Redondo Beach with a little help from the Redondo Beach Police Officers' and Firefighters' associations.

Santa Claus, with a little help from the Redondo Beach Police Officers' and Firefighters' associations, has been busy travelling the streets of Redondo Beach in his custom made sleigh this week.

On Thursday, Santa visited Curtis Avenue in north Redondo Beach and was greeted by dozens of residents in each block as he stopped to hand out candy and pose for photos.

Throughout the entire journey, Santa was escorted by off duty police officers and firefighters who volunteered their time to help out the big man.

"This is an opportunity for Redondo Beach's public safety personnel to give back to the community and thank them for their support," organizers said in a release.

The Redondo Beach Santa visits have occurred continuously for "several decades," according to organizers, with the exception of 2011 when staffing issues prevented the journey.
