Spend Summer in the Park

Summer has arrived—in celebration of the sunshine, here are four popular parks in the South Bay to barbecue, go for a jog, or just read a book and enjoy the ocean breeze.
Hermosa Beach's South Park
Located, this park includes a small playground, picnic tables and some shade trees. Many Hermosa Beach neighbors walk their dogs in the park.

- Pro: The large open space at the park serves well for pick-up flag football or sunbathing.
- Con: Parking in the area is limited.
Manhattan Beach's Sand Dune Park
Sand Dune Park, at 33rd Street and Bell Avenue in Manhattan Beach, is named after its 100-foot-high sand dunes, and includes a nature trail, play area for children and a merry-go-round.

- Pro: Try running up the sand dunes for a great workout.
- Con: But you have to make a reservation to use them.
Redondo Beach's Dominguez Park
This offers a small dog park, plenty of trees to read under, picnic tables, Heritage Court and a Little League field.
- Pro: The dog park is popular, so it's a great place for you and your dog to meet your neighbors and their pets.
- Con: Because a lot of dogs visit the area, be careful where you step!
Abalone Cove Shoreline Park
Located in serves as a refuge for marine and animal life. There are tidepools, walking trails, picnic tables, two beaches and a bluff with an ocean view.
- Pro: You can enjoy the natural environment of our South Bay community while walking the trails of this park.
- Con: Parking costs $5 per car and $15 per bus.
