Weekend: Festivals, Fairs, Conventions

Whether it's a fair, a festival, or a bunch of people dressed up in animal suits, this weekend's events bring communities together.

Where and when: , 300 N. Harbor Drive, Redondo Beach; Friday-Sunday

Why go: The animals come out this weekend at the Antheria expo—a three-day festival for those who love anthropomorphics ("humanized" objects or animals). Activities include a variety show, movies, animation exhibitions and a fursuit parade!

Why go: Enjoy free food and music, check out the hands-on electric bike exhibit and take a tour inside the Power Plant. Plus facepainting, a moon bounce and free pumpkins for the first 500 guests!

Where and when: Live Oak Park, North Valley Drive and 15th Street, Manhattan Beach; Saturday – Sunday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Why go: Raise funds for local charity organizations while enjoying arts and crafts, food, games and fun. A long-standing community tradition!

Where and when: Third Street and Valley Drive, Manhattan Beach; Saturday, 7:30 a.m.

Why go: The hometown Manhattan Beach 10K Run dates back to 1978—and there are some residents who have run every race, that’s how fun it is.

Price: $20 to $30 registration

Where and when: , 550 Deep Valley Drive, Rolling Hills Estates; Saturday, 12 p.m.

Why go: Support local business! Dozens of exhibitors from the retail, service and nonprofit sectors will be on hand offering prizes, giveaways and more. The first 200 guests receive a "Local First" tote bag. For residents looking for local employment opportunities, a listing of job opportunities will be available.

Where and when: and Civic Center, 415 Diamond St., Redondo Beach; Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why go: The annual public safety fair, which kicks off Crime Prevention Month and Fire Prevention Week, will feature demonstrations, exhibits and more.

Where and when: , 1611 S. Catalina Ave., Redondo Beach; Sunday, 2 p.m.

Why go: Celebrate winemakers and winery owners from the South Bay at this culinary feast. Stations will be set up throughout Chez Mélange, , and , with special dishes from each restaurant and tastes from each winery.
