Why Go: There's something for everyone at this big, colorful fair. Crazy rides for the teenagers, sweet and fun rides for the little ones, and plenty of food and drink for the whole family.

'SOUTH OF THE BORDER' COOKING CLASS

Where/When: Lido di Manhattan, 1550 Rosecrans Ave., Manhattan Beach; Saturday, noon.

Why Go: Summertime means margaritas! At this cooking class, you'll learn not only how to create an amazing Mexican feast (including salsa, carne asada tacos, crab enchiladas with green mole, and "fried" ice cream) but also how to concoct the ultimate margarita—and you'll get plenty of experience as guests can enjoy unlimited said tequila-based cocktails.

VOYAGER NATURE CRUISE BOAT RIDES

Where/When: Voyager Whale Watch & Nature Cruise Boat, 131 International Boardwalk, Redondo Beach; Saturday and Sunday.

Why Go: Enjoy the beautiful weather with a 30- to 45-minute cruise along the coastline. Be sure to keep an eye out for dolphins, sea lions and other critters.

BEACH CITIES RELAY FOR LIFE

Where/When: Alta Vista Elementary School, 815 Knob Hill Ave., Redondo Beach; Begins Saturday at 9 a.m., continues Sunday.

Why Go: Teams from all over come together to compete in this 24-hour relay race. The American Cancer Society Relay for Life is a chance for communities to celebrate those who have bravely faced cancer, remember loved ones lost and to fight back against the disease.
