Faces and sea creatures were among the colorful creations illustrating the Redondo Beach Pier on Saturday afternoon in honor of the ninth annual Redondo Pier Chalk Art Festival.
Artists with experience ranging from pre-school to professional chalked a variety of images, both realistic and whimsical, on the pier as they listened to free concerts in honor of World Music Day, including a special performance from the Silverlake Conservatory of Music.
The organizers gave out prizes in various age categories.
