2012 Los Angeles International Flamenco Festival

The Los Angeles International Flamenco Festival returns to the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center March 24 & 25, 2012; it is the only annual showcase named after our city, featuring the best and brightest international and U.S. flamenco talent.

MARCH 24, 8PM
Festival headliner Vicente Amigo is a Spanish flamenco composer and virtuoso guitarist, born in Guadalcanal, near Seville. He has played as backing guitarist on recordings by flamenco singers El Pele, Camarón de la Isla, Vicente Soto, Luis de Córdoba and the rociero band Salmarina. His album Ciudad de las Ideas won the 2001 Latin Grammy for Best Flamenco Album and the 2002 Ondas award for the best Flamenco work.

MARCH 25, 7PM
Theatre Flamenco was the first American dance company to stage full productions of Spanish dance in the U.S., and is one of the oldest dance companies in California. Over the years, Theatre Flamenco has served as a beacon of cultural pride, a reservoir for the diverse traditions of Spanish culture, and a vital source for artistic collaboration.

Adam del Monte is a leading guitarist of his generation, a dynamic force in both classical and flamenco disciplines, who has studied in Spain, Israel and England with such luminaries as Pepe "Habichuela", Paco Cortez, Gerardo Nunez, Menashe Baquiche and Israel and Gordon Crosskey.

Nino de Los Reyes took his first steps in the world of Flamenco performing with his famous flamenco artist parents, Ramon de Los Reyes and Clara Ramona. He has performed at Spain’s most renowned tablaos including Casa Patas, Cafe de Chinitas, and Las Carboneras. Despite his youth, Nino has an impressive track record as a soloist, and has formed part of the companies of Guito, Manolete, Carmen Cortes, Antonio Canales, Sara Baras, Joaquin Grilo and others.

In November of 2007, UNESCO declared flamenco, the quintessential Spanish genre of music and dance, a global treasure.
