Barney's Beanery to Replace Breakwall

Barney's Beanery will open on the Redondo Landing portion of the Redondo Beach Pier next year.

Barney's Beanery, a Route 66-themed restaurant chain, will occupy the former Breakwall Bar & Grill space on the Redondo Beach Pier, Redondo Beach city staff announced in a post on the city's website over the weekend.

The Redondo Beach City Council approved the lease for 100H Fisherman's Wharf at Tuesday's regular meeting.

According to a statement on the city's website, the Barney's Beanery will open on the Redondo Landing portion of the pier in Spring 2013, shortly after the openings of Bella Gelato and Neighborhood Grinds.

"We're excited to have such well-known new tenants," RDR Properties President Bob Resnick, the master leaseholder of the Redondo Landing, said in the statement. "Barney's Beanery and Neighborhood Grinds are both popular and widely acclaimed establishments, and with the addition of Bella Gelato, we're confident these new businesses will create an exciting energy that will bring locals to the pier."

The Redondo Beach location will be the sixth Barney's Beanery. The restaurant and sports bar offers a wide-ranging menu, including barbecue, Tex-Mex, soul, diner and traditional American food, among other options. It's known for its Ultimate PB&J sandwich and chili, as well as a "Behemoth Beer Menu" with 40 beers on draft and 160 bottled beers, according to the restaurant's website.
