Blotter: Bicycles Stolen From Garages

The following information is from the Redondo Beach Police Department's Part I Crime Recap news release covering reports received Sept. 13-19.

Street robbery

A man approached a victim Sept. 12 at the intersection of Broadway and Garnet Street and asked for money and a cellphone. When the victim refused to hand it over, the man hit the victim. No loss was reported. The assailant was described as a 30-year-old, 6-foot-1-inch, 200-pound black man with a heavy build.

Commercial burglaries

Michael Johnson was arrested Monday on suspicion of burglary. Police believe he entered an open business in the South Bay Galleria and removed items without paying. No loss was reported as the items were recovered.

A woman entered a business in the 4000 block of Inglewood Avenue on Sept. 12 and used a fake ID to get cash. The burglar is described as a 5-foot-5-inch, 140-pound black woman in her 50s. She has brown hair and brown eyes.

Someone stole True Religion corduroy jeans from Nordstrom Rack in the 1500 block of Hawthorne Boulevard on the afternoon of Sept. 12. The thief is described as a 20-year-old, heavy black man. He drove off in a 2012 Hyundai four-door.

Someone smashed the front glass door of a business in the 500 block of Torrance Boulevard in the morning of Sept. 12 and stole medication.

Two women entered a business in the 1500 block of Hawthorne Boulevard, on Sept. 11 stole perfume and paid for other, lower-priced merchandise. The burglars were described as 20- to 30-year-old, 5-foot-3-inch, 115-pound black women.

Residential burglaries

At some point from Sept. 11-16, someone entered a parking garage in the 1700 block of the Esplanade, cut a lock and stole a bicycle.

Two bicycles were stolen from a vehicle parked in a garage in the 1700 block of Camino de la Costa on Saturday or Sunday.

A purse containing cash and a cellphone, among other items, was stolen from a locked guest room in the 300 block of North Harbor Drive between Sept. 13-14.

Someone was unsuccessful in an attempt to enter a home in the 2900 block of 190th Street last Friday.

Two men tried to break into a home in the 500 block of South Lucia Avenue on Sept. 13 by removing a screen and attempting to pry open a window. The two men also tried to force the rear sliding glass door. No loss was reported.

The screen on an open and unlocked window in the 2400 block of Rockefeller Lane was removed Sept. 12. The burglar stole cash, an iPhone and a wallet.

A bicycle was stolen from a parking garage in the 1300 block of the Esplanade on Sept. 11.

A bicycle was stolen from a parking garage in the 1200 block of the Esplanade from Sept. 9-10.

Two bicycles were stolen from a parking garage in the 200 block of Yacht Club Way on Sept. 8.

Someone broke into a locked guest room in the 2700 block of Artesia Boulevard on Sept. 11 and stole passports and cash.

Vehicle burglary

A laptop was stolen from a 2008 Toyota RAV4 parked in the 1600 block of Haynes Lane on Sept. 12-13.

A burglar punched the lock on the driver's side door of a 1991 Honda Accord parked in the 1800 block of Hawthorne Boulevard on Sept. 13. A CD player, toolbox with tools, phone charger and a pair of glasses were stolen.

A backpack, purse and running shoes were stolen from a 2005 Acura MDX parked in the 1900 block of Manhattan Beach Boulevard on Sept. 12. The burglar smashed the passenger's side window.

Stolen vehicles

A gray 2003 Saturn Vue, license plate No. DP580EF, was stolen Sept. 11-12 from the 500 block of Avenue E.
