Buona Sera Brings Italian Ambiance to Riviera Village

Italian cuisine is only a few steps away from the beach.

Riviera Village is home to many hidden gems, and that includes the Italian restaurant, Buona Sera.

This dimly lit cozy space was buzzing with activity. Regulars and newcomers alike were greeted with a smile, and the hostess was quick to seat all guests.

The menu offered many of the traditional Italian favorites, including scampi, calamari, pizzas, pastas, and meat and fish platters. The server had recommended a few dishes on the menu and proceeded to take the food and drink order.

While sipping on Gavi di Gavi, the first course, a generously sized Pappa al Pomodoro ($8) arrived at the table, piping hot. The sweet tomato was sweet but a little spicy. The dish was filling enough until the next course.

Several minutes had elapsed before Spaghetti ai Fruitti di Mare ($18) made its appearance. The pasta was cooked al dente. On the seafood side, the menu promised clams, mussels, shrimp, and scallops. However, there were definitely more shrimp and scallops than anything else, which overpowered the rest of the seafood. A well balanced dish would be more pleasing.

The evening ended on a sweet note with Panna Cotta ($9) with raspberry sauce, which dense and rich. It was just enough of a portion so one doesn’t feel too full when leaving the table.

The hospitality of the staff, the servers’ menu knowledge and the efficiency of the bussers show why this restaurant is a local favorite. Prospective diners should have a little patience before entering this place, as the speed of each course is not consistent.
