Crowd-Funding Campaign Launched for Local Business

Gift shop Harmony Works hopes to raise $75,000 to pay for relocation expenses.

Harmony Works, a Riviera Village store being forced to vacate its location on Catalina Avenue, has launched a crowd-funding campaign to help the business relocate.

Owners Mike and Royce Morales got the "final word" about the deadline to vacate only a week and a half ago.

The building housing both Harmony Works and Redondo Hair & Beauty Supply was sold in late 2012. The new owners gave the existing tenants until June 1 to vacate the property.

The reward levels for the "Harmony Works Moving Fund" at gofundme.com are $100, $1,000, $10,000 and $20,000. For a $100 investment, the person will receive a 10 percent discount for a year; at $20,000, the investor receives a 25 percent discount on all future purchases.

So far, two $100 donations have been made. The Moraleses hope to raise $75,000.

If the store does not end up moving, all money invested will be refunded, according to Royce Morales.
