KFWB Wakes up at Hennessey's

The radio station will broadcast from Redondo Beach all day as part of "KFWB's On Your Corner."

Radio broadcasters, city officials and ordinary citizens packed in Redondo Beach on Wednesday morning to watch and listen as live out of the local establishment as part of "KFWB On Your Corner."

"It's great for the community," said Hennessey's owner Paul Hennessey, who added that personnel from the radio station were at the restaurant at 2 a.m. to set up for the morning broadcast. "It's been real active ... they've been doing a great job advertising us."

From 5 a.m. until a little after 9 a.m., Penny Griego and Phil Hulett delivered the morning news with a beach cities twist, interviewing Hermosa Beach Mayor Howard Fishman and Redondo Beach City Councilman Bill Brand.

Once Bob McCormick took over the airways for his Money 101 program, it was Redondo Beach Mayor Mike Gin's turn in the spotlight. The two discussed the recession and its local effects.

McCormick also spent part of his program going over real estate issues in the beach cities.
