Kincaid's, Old Tony's Bartenders Profiled

Our South Bay recognizes Anthony Libutti of Kincaid's and Manny Jimenez of Tony's on the Pier as some of Redondo Beach's top bartenders.

Bartenders Anthony Libutti and Manny Jimenez, who work at Redondo Beach Pier mainstays Kincaid's and Tony's on the Pier, respectively, are just two of the five bartenders Our South Bay recognizes in the February-March 2012 issue of South Bay Magazine.

Libutti, who has served drinks at Kincaid's for the last four years, didn't plan to make tending bar a career when he took a job at Hennessey's Tavern in Hermosa Beach.

"After college, I thought I'd just bartend for the summer and maybe a little longer," he told Our South Bay. "But here I am, eight years later, still going."

Though Libutti told Our South Bay that he prefers a vodka soda, he enjoys serving his customers Lavender Cosmos, which contain Absolut Mandarin, fresh lime and cranberry juices, and Parfait Amour liqueur.

Jimenez started working at Tony's on the Pier—popularly known as Old Tony's—as a bar back for Tony Trutanich Sr. in 1982. He worked his way to the front of the bar over the next several years.

"Tony's is a home away from home for me," he told Our South Bay. Many of his coworkers feel the same.

Though Old Tony's signature cocktail is the Fire Chief—a Mai Tai with light rum, dark rum, 151 rum, fruit juices and a splash of grenadine—Jimenez is also serving an Ocean Breeze Martini, a concoction of blueberry Stoli, Apple Pucker, apple juice and blue Curacao.
