Lawsuit Alleges Racial Discrimination at South Bay Galleria

Cortes Rex alleges that the South Bay Galleria discriminated against black patrons.

A Hawthorne resident last week filed a lawsuit alleging systematic racial discrimination against him and other black males at the South Bay Galleria, according to the Beach Reporter.

Cortes Rex says mall security guards called him "old dirty robber" and alleges that mall management told merchants to remove merchandise related to President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama and sell more "white stuff," the newspaper reported.

This is not the first lawsuit the mall has faced this year. Earlier this year, the victims of a December stabbing attack sued the mall, alleging that it provided inadequate security.
