Magazine: Old Tony's Is Best Beach Bar

Redondo Beach landmark was named one of the top 11 best beach bars in America by Travel and Leisure Magazine in their June 2011 issue.

Old Tony's, also known as Tony's on the Pier, "attracts South Bay beach bums who come for the spectacular sunsets, crashing surf, and 360-degree views of the coast," according to the article.

The blurb about Old Tony's also says the restaurant's signature drink is the Fire Chief, a Mai Tai containing light rum, dark rum, 151 rum, fruit juices and a splash of grenadine.

The only other California bar mentioned in the article was the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company in San Francisco.

Old Tony's has recently become embroiled in a controversy surrounding its future on the pier because the city has yet to extend the restaurant's lease. City officials have said they are working on a solution.
