Miss Emily's Stickers Bring Smiles

Redondo Beach piano teacher Emily Baum enjoys brightening moods—one sticker at a time.

At 5 years old, Emily Baum developed a love for piano and an obsession with stickers. Nowadays, the upbeat piano teacher better known as Miss Emily shares these two passions with just about everyone she meets.

Students who attend Emily's Piano Studio are given sticker sheets. Progress is rewarded in the form of happy faces, hearts or one of the many other stickers Baum has on hand, but her studio isn't the only place for "stickerizing."

Friends and strangers can expect to be stickerized at a coffee shop, bank, grocery store or on the street—anywhere the youthful piano teacher may be. She especially enjoys placing stickers on people's hands, and rarely has anyone objected.

"People have been so responsive to this positive reinforcement," Baum said. "It affects their day in such a positive way."

Stickerizing opportunities are also available at any of Baum's musical storytimes, a fun-filled session of song and dance. The hosts musical storytimes every Monday.
