Pizza Pizzeria to Open in Redondo Beach

The pizza chain aims to prepare pizzas via assembly line.

Pizza Pizzeria, a new eatery that aims to apply Chipotle's assembly line to 10-inch tossed pizzas, will open its first location in Redondo Beach this year, according to Grub Street Los Angeles.

Charlie Candelas, a former operations manager for Wolfgang Puck's restaurants, and the Pilot Light Group, which consists of Rodelio Abbot of BLT and Frank Fonda of Napa Valley Grille, are behind the new venture.

"This experienced trio promises to copy Chipotle's assembly line and offer 10-inch hand-tossed pizzas that guests can customize," writes EaterLA of the new restaurant. "The pizzas are then fired in a very hot stone oven for 3 minutes."

The pizzas will cost $6. The chain also plans to sell "pre-crafted" pizzas, salads and pastas, in addition to beer and wine, according to EaterLA.

Grub Street Los Angeles reports that the owners will open three locations in 2013, with the Redondo Beach location aiming for a May opening.
