Rain Forces Event Cancellations

The Hermosa Beach St. Patrick's Day Parade and a surf competition have been canceled; however, the St. Patrick's Day 5K is still on.

Despite the rain, the annual in Redondo Beach will go on Saturday morning, according to an employee of race sponsor .

Not so for the Hermosa Beach and the surf competition in Manhattan Beach. Both events have been postponed due to the wet forecast.

The Hermosa Beach St. Patrick's Day Parade will be held March 24, according to the city's Chamber of Commerce.

"Safety concerns are the biggest factor in our decision to reschedule the parade," Chamber Executive Director Maureen Hunt said in a statement.

The South Bay Surf Series competition was postponed to March 31, according to a notice on the SBBC website. Online entries have reopened, and the new entry deadline is March 28 at midnight.
