ReVamp Makes Way for Flo Boutique

The once hot pink building on Avenue I in Redondo Beach's Riviera Village got a new coat of gray paint and a facelift at the end of 2012, as one of the owners of the now-shuttered ReVamp Boutique & Glam Lounge prepared to reopen the store as Flo Boutique.

ReVamp—a combination beauty bar, clothing store and vintage furniture shop—closed in December after two of its three owners moved away from the area. The third owner, Flo Richardson of Palos Verdes Estates, decided to open Flo Boutique in the same location.

"My partners moved … and I then I thought, 'I'm going to carry on by myself,'" Richardson told Patch. "I did a significant amount of the buying for the other store."

Within three weeks of ReVamp's closure, Flo Boutique opened in its place.

ReVamp's prior owners sold everything—including the furnishings and light fixtures—so Richardson had to start from scratch in the middle of the holiday season.

"It was a challenge, but it was all worth it," she said.

Like Revamp, Flo Boutique offers stylish women's clothing; unlike ReVamp, the new store also carries "fun" lingerie and pajamas, "which seems to be going over really well," Richardson said.

Gone are the beauty bar and the vintage furniture, but the jewelry and accessories remain. "I wanted to do gifts for under $40," Richardson said.

And like ReVamp, Flo Boutique still hosts popular Friday Happy Hours.

Flo Boutique is located at 209 Avenue I in South Redondo Beach. Its hours are 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
