Riviera Barbershop Keeps it Traditional

Riviera Barbershop—located in Riviera Village—is the newest old-fashioned barbershop in Redondo Beach.

Forget the hair salons liberally sprinkled around Riviera Village. Riviera Barbershop, which opened less than three weeks ago, is dedicated to "old-school barbering."

The barbershop, owned by the same people behind Stormy's Chop Shop and other local barbers, has already seen steady business, according to the main barber, Johnny, who declined to give his last name.

"We've been wanting to be in the Riviera for about three years," Johnny said. "This location is actually a great location."

Located where the now-shuttered American Heritage Clothiers once was in the area of Riviera Village that's actually in Torrance but has a Redondo Beach address, the inside of the barbershop is decorated with old posters and memorabilia.

"We wanted a place where guys can have a drink, chill and relax," Johnny said. Customers can grab a beer, soda or water to drink, and even try a cigar.

The barbers—there are always two on site—offer classic barber services and use a straight razor for shaving.

"We're trying to keep it traditional," Johnny said.

Redondo Barbershop, located at 310 Vista Del Mar in Riviera Village, is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
