Small Business Spotlight: Critic's Choice Catering

Patch asks Michelle Paul of Critic's Choice Catering five questions about the business.

Critic's Choice Catering is a well-known local catering company. Chief Financial Officer Michelle Paul took the time to answer five questions from Patch.

Patch:
How did Critic's Choice Catering get started?
Michelle Paul: Back in 1986, an idea was born to become involved with the community by doing delicious food. This has now grown into a well-received company that does a lot for the city of Redondo Beach and the South Bay.

Patch: What's Critic's Choice Catering known for?
Paul: We are known for excellent service, for being a "scratch" kitchen and using only the freshest ingredients. The majority of clients tell us that we call back immediately and send over the information, such as a quote, on the same day.

Patch: What's unique about Critic's Choice Catering?
Paul: We are full-service—we can just do your food, or we can plan and execute your event from start to finish. All you have to do is tell us your vision and we can make that happen. We also have a large variety of venues that we work with, so you can do an event "out of the box"—something that we are known for—and throw a party that will get rave reviews even years later.

Patch: What's the best part about being located in the South Bay?
Paul: We are located in a part of Los Angeles that has everything we could possibly want—ocean view venues, large corporations and people who love to entertain. Perfect for being a caterer!

Patch: If you could give your customers one piece of advice, what would it be?
Paul: DIY sounds good, but in reality—can you really do it all yourself? The biggest comment we get is, "We should have hired someone to do that" or "my sister did a lot herself, and there is no way I want to do that for my wedding," etc.

Critic's Choice Catering is located at 2806 Phelan Lane in Redondo Beach. For more information, call 310-545-1144 or visit facebook.com/critics4catering.
