Small Business Spotlight: Dance 1

Patch asks special projects manager Laurie Phan of Dance 1 to answer five questions about the business.

Dance 1 is a dance studio in North Redondo Beach. Special projects manager Laurie Phan took the time to answer five questions about Dance 1 from Patch.

Patch:
How did Dance 1 get started?
Laurie Phan: After dancing and teaching throughout England and America, Francesca Stern opened her studio in Redondo Beach in 2010. She has recently moved to a five-studio state-of-the-art location that features floating floors, a dancers' lounge, parent lounge, changing rooms, homework room, in-studio dance wear boutique, and closed circuit viewing of all studios.

Patch: What's Dance 1 known for?
Phan: Dance 1 is an inviting and family-friendly studio dedicated to providing solid dance skills, while encouraging a love of dance. We offer an extensive schedule for ages two through adult. Our offerings include ballet, tap, hip-hop, jazz, contemporary, musical theater and kids’ yoga. We have also added a new adult exercise program with YDB (yoga/dance/barre), mat pilates, yoga, cardio funk, Zumba and belly dancing. All skill levels are welcome.

Dance 1 provides many classes for homeschooled students. It is the home of an award winning performing company which performs in the community 20 times per year. All Dance 1 dancers have the opportunity to perform in showcases twice a year for family, friends, and lovers of dance alike.

We also have fun extras, like parties, camps, Girls' Night Out and Parent's Night Out.

Patch: What's unique about Dance 1?
Phan: Our prices are the lowest in the South Bay. Our adult program is very flexible with both day and evening classes, and a punch card which offers complete flexibility in class day, time and choice. This also allows for the possibility of parents taking a class at the same time as their children. Our classes for homeschooled students are also very popular.

Patch: What's the best part about being located in the South Bay?
Phan: The South Bay is such a wonderful place to live and work. Our studio serves families in Redondo Beach and all surrounding communities.

Patch: If you could give your customers one piece of advice, what would it be?
Phan: If you are looking for a quality, affordable and family-friendly dance studio, come and try Dance 1.
