Small Business Spotlight: 'O' de Kirei

"O" de Kirei is a skincare an electrolysis business in the heart of North Redondo Beach. Owner Fumi Ozaki took the time to answer five questions from Patch.

Patch: How did "O" de Kirei get started?
Fumi Ozaki: I founded "O" de Kirei in 2012. Prior to opening my business, I worked full time as a Skincare Educator/Trainer for a well-known direct selling cosmetic company. While working full time, I went back to school to be certified in Esthetics (skincare) and Electrology (permanent hair removal), in hopes to add a plus for my career. I have also been certified as an Esthetician Instructor to better enhance my knowledge and being at the forefront of this exciting beauty industry.

Patch: What's "O" de Kirei known for?
Ozaki: "O" de Kirei is known for its one-and-only personalized skincare and electrolysis clinic in the heart of North Redondo Beach.

A lot of my clients inquire about the origin of "O" de Kirei; which is my last initial but also stands for "water" (eau) in French. Kirei stands for "beauty" in Japanese. My goal is to provide the inspiration of water to all my clients with positive spirit, optimal health and radiant skin wellness in my practice.

Patch: What's unique about "O" de Kirei?
Ozaki: I am proud to be the only Licensed Esthetician and Electrologist practicing in North Redondo Beach.

Electrolysis is known as a 'permanent hair removal' method approved by the FDA. Unlike Laser Hair Removal, Electrolysis can be performed on all skin types and conditions; from head to toe. The results: clean, highly-satisfied permanent hair removal for life!

As I enjoy rendering treatments to my clients, I also contribute my time to Cenage Learning (Milady Textbooks) as their Reviewer/Contributor for beauty school textbook revisions. The beauty industry itself is ongoing and unique in a sense that I am able to be creative in many ways to educate myself and to better share my knowledge in serving my clients with the very best in the industry.

Patch: What's the best part about being located in the South Bay?
Ozaki: I believe that location, location, location is crucial in building business. The best part about being located in the South Bay is everything to me! I have many clients that come straight from LAX after their long flight from Japan. The 405 and 91 freeway access makes it convenient for clients that drive all the way from Orange County or West LA. There are many beauty conscious population here in the South Bay but do not know 'how to' take better care of their skin. I am here to be their one and only beauty expert for life.

Patch: If you could give your customers one piece of advice, what would it be?
Ozaki: Eating healthy, exercising, staying positive, and sun protection are many advices to achieving true beauty. Being beauty-conscious is not only what you apply topically but it's how you feel inside that matters the most.
