Small Business Spotlight: Pike Properties

Patch asks Jeff Ginsburg of Pike Properties five questions about his business.

Owned by City Councilman Jeff Ginsburg, Pike Properties is a local property management firm. Ginsburg answered five questions from Patch about his business.

Patch: How did Pike Properties get started?
Jeff Ginsburg: I opened Pike Properties about 25 years ago to manage a few income properties my brothers and I invested in. Since then, I got my broker's license and began to offer management of other people's properties, which has grown into a business with over 10 employees and keeps growing!

Patch: What's Pike Properties known for?
Ginsburg: We primarily manage real estate properties including apartment buildings, office buildings, single family residences, homeowner associations (HOA's)...also for busy people we offer bill paying/income processing service for individuals who do not have time to do it themselves! All of these services result in our clients receiving professional monthly financial statements showing how they are doing which can be forwarded to their CPA at the end of the year to make filing taxes a near effortless process!

Patch: What's unique about Pike Properties?
Ginsburg: Our management practices usually yield near 100% occupancy income levels! For the individuals who we do personal bill/income management for we free up that time so they can allocate it more efficiently. What's great about the services we offer is that our clients can usually write off our expense which if they did the work themselves they would have no write off. In other words, if they do the work themselves, they're essentially working for "free" and have a lot LESS time to do other things. Having us run things for them is a "win-win" situation.

Patch: What's the best part about being located in the South Bay?
Ginsburg: Since our employees and us live in the South Bay we focus on managing properties in our local area. Most properties are within a 10-15 minute drive. We have great relationships with our local vendors and it is always a pleasure meeting up with our clients to discuss business at one of our South Bay restaurants or coffee shops! We love it here and I cannot imagine it being better anywhere else!

Patch: If you could give your customers one piece of advice, what would it be?
Ginsburg: If you own any sort of income property, live at a condo/townhouse (HOA) or find yourself spending too much time trying to manage things on your own then we should talk...our company can make your life so much easier and our services are usually tax deductible! Every day your property sits vacant is another day of lost income. Pike Properties is the company you need to make your life easier AND you will make more money in the long run by NOT managing it yourself.
