'Bar Rescue' to Feature Kilkenny's

Kilkenny's Irish Pub to reopen Wednesday as an all-new surf bar, as part of Spike TV's newest reality series.

A new Spike TV reality series, Bar Rescue, will feature local pub in its first season.

Cameras and crew members were spotted Saturday around Kilkenny's, a Redondo Beach landmark.

The Redondo Beach Pier Association sent out a news release Tuesday afternoon announcing the bar's reopening Wednesday.

"The all-new surf bar, complete with amazing ocean views, will be unveiled for the first time" Wednesday, according to the news release. "The grand opening will feature delicious new menu items, drink specials and tropical vacation giveaways."

Doors open at 9 p.m., and the event is free. Only people of legal drinking age will be admitted.

Bar Rescue stars Jon Taffer, a top restaurant and bar consultant who uses an in-your-face style and his "Taffer Dynamics" management method to transform failing establishments, according to a January news release from Spike TV.

Bar Rescue will premiere sometime this year.

I cannot stress how cheap and crappy the makeovers these people provide are. They seem to know nothing about bars so why are they running this show? They take bars that are NOT failing and screw them up. It's a big joke. I saw a different sports bar they just "completed". On the walls they actually painted around their lights so it would be good for their shoot but when the lights came down there were big unpainted areas. They moved this sports bars televisions around but added nothing and even hung them crooked. "Crooked" yep I think that is a good word for these producers. As a business owner myself I was appalled by what I saw.

Whatever they did didn't work. I live right up the street from Kilkinney's and it's already out of business.
