Tried and True: Old Tony's on the Pier

This popular family-owned restaurant offers great food at a good value.

You've seen those seafood restaurants on television where the interior is made to look like a boat, there's nautical décor everywhere, and there are even fishnets hanging from the ceiling, right? Well, —also known as "Old Tony's"—is that restaurant. The establishment has a worn yet cozy feel when you walk in. The staff is also very friendly and down to earth. This restaurant has been around for years so everyone, regulars and newcomers alike, is treated like family.

One of the best perks that Tony’s offers is beautiful ocean views. The restaurant is surrounded by the beautiful Pacific Ocean, and it's quite soothing to hear the waves crash as you eat your meal. For even better views, their upstairs bar offers 360-degree views of the pier area.

Of course, the menu is seafood-heavy but a sprinkling of meat and vegetarian dishes could also be found. The lunch menu does have a good variety of items that include soup or salad, linguine with clam sauce, French fries, rice pilaf or veggies.

I started off with a good-sized bowl of clam chowder. It was just the right portion and tasty down to the last bit. After several moments, my fried oysters arrived. I started off with the linguine, which could have been its own entrée since a fairly large amount was served along the main course. The noodles were buttery and cooked al dente. The oysters were fried to a nice golden brown and served with cocktail and tartar sauce.

They also have a dessert menu featuring dessert wines, cheesecakes, ice cream and mousse; however, I turned it down—this time. I finished my lunch feeling full but not overstuffed. With a friendly staff, quick service, a decently priced menu and parking validation, it's worth a visit.
