Q&A With Chris McKenna of Redondo Car Wash

New business is always a good thing for Redondo Beach. Here is a Q&A for Redondo Car Wash.

New business is always a good thing for Redondo Beach. Here is a Q&A with Chris McKenna for the Redondo Car Wash. Learn about their hopes for the Redondo Beach and doing business in this community, and learn more about their petition to get their plans approved!

1. Q: When do you open your doors?

A: We are very much looking forward to being open in the Fall of 2013.

2. Q: Who is your primary customer?
A: We hope to serve a wide range of customers throughout the South Bay. This would include allbeach cities, as well as destination customers, commuters and of course local residents.

3. Q: What makes you the leader in your field?
A: First off, my partners and I are very seasoned car wash operators and have extensive experience owning and operating car washes, particularly in the South Bay. As consultants, we have an international reputation as being the leaders in modern car wash technology, and viable solutions for the expert investor(s). We bring a whole new working model that is being touted within the ranks of the professional car wash industry. This model is known as a flex-serveoperation. This combines both the qualities of an express car wash and a full-serve. Therefore, giving the customer as much “flexibility” in choosing what type of wash packages and serviceswork best for them.

4. Q: How long have you lived in this community?
A: I have been a South Bay resident for several years and currently live in the Rivera Village district of South Redondo Beach.

5. Q: What is your favorite thing about the South Bay?
A: I really enjoy the local atmosphere and the way that this comes across as a very community oriented place to live. I love going to the restaurants in walking distance of my house and being a part of the neighborhood, supporting local businesses and being active in community affairs.

6. Q: Why did you choose the South Bay to open your business?
A: For many years we have tried to get the rights to the current property we now control. We feel that the South Bay and Redondo Beach in particular, is one of the most desirable places tohave a car wash business and South Bay residents are second to none for being the absolutebest customer that we have ever served. Therefore, when we saw the opportunity to re-open the Redondo Car Wash, we immediately took advantage of this, as it presents a unique opportunity to once again work with and serve some of the best people in the United States.

7. Q: If you could say anything to South Bay residents, what would it be?
A: We very much look forward to serving the South Bay with commitment, integrity, value, honesty and sincere appreciation. We know that we have the absolute best car wash model inthe United States and we are very excited to make the South Bay our home.

8. Q: Do you play volleyball, surf?
A: Growing up next to the beach, I skateboarded, surfed and sailed almost every chance I couldget. One of my favorite things to do besides surf, is to head to the mountains where I am an avid skier and snowboarder. I grew up on skis, and my parents were both ski instructors, and at one time I considered going professional. However several ski injuries prevented me from pursuing this.

9. Q: How are you making the South Bay better place to live and be?
A: By offering a facility that is state of the art environmental, we are creating a place of businessthat is not only creating jobs and generating revenue for the city of Redondo Beach, but is actually helping the environment by reducing the overall carbon footprint and also replenishingthe natural water table through are advanced storm catch system. Most of our landscape and plant species are drought tolerant and our irrigation system is very low usage.

We are also very active in local volunteer work and we support many local activities throughout the South Bay including “Hands on Art”, Girls basketball, and few other local youth sports programs. We encourage action in regards to and will strongly support all under funded programs and this support will be on-going and we will facilitate any medium we can in order tobring about awareness to these and other causes.

10. Q: Favorite place to spend a Sunday?
A: My all-time favorite Sunday afternoon activity is being at the beach. In the warmer months I’ll spend the whole afternoon there and then head over to one of the local establishments for food and drink with friends and family. Simple, but that is how I grew up; appreciating the beautiful ocean and all it has to offer.

Mary, I read your posts throughout the Measure A campaign. You may want to re-read your posts whenRead More you cast stones about "dividing a city". There wasn't much substantiation to any of your posts-- mostly just attacks on Jim Light. Do Aspel and Ginsburg condone this sort of behavior since you are such a strong voice for them?
Jim Light April 28, 2013 at 03:41 pm
http://www.prado2013.com/ Voters should read this before casting their ballot. Dianne Prado,Read More former District 1 candidate, exposes the electioneering, intimidation and cronyism of this campaign.

Perhaps we should just turn our heads and let the City Council violate the law. Is that what youRead More would do Mr H? The City Charter is the law of Redondo. The Council chose knowingly to violate it. When the judge found them in violation, the same Council doubled the costs with a frivolous appeal. This time three judges threw it out. Had the Council followed the Charter, there would be zero costs. If you want to hold anyone accountable, it should be those who cast the vote to violate the City Charter and disenfranchise the voters of Redondo. You should not hold me and the over 200 residents who contributed to the lawsuit to uphold the City Charter responsible for the Council's illegal action.

We are still waiting for someone -- perhaps the author of this post -- to make a coherent,Read More fact-based argument in favor of Mr. Diels. With all due respect, conclusory hopes and dreams of "reform" will not get 'er done in the face of Mr. Diels' voting record as City Councilman. Thankfully, one good thing has come of the author's blog post. The facts and blog posts have vindicated the honesty and integrity of the campaigns run by Dawn Esser and Chris Cagle, against a baseless attack by Mrs. Diels. If I had a magic mand, I would wave it and change the City Charter so that Dawn and Chris could share the position of Treasurer.

Mr. Azouz: Thank you. I am glad some neighbors find value in what I do, but more importantly IRead More respect the fact that you take the time to do your own homework. If you have expertise in a particular area that can benefit the City, feel free to contact me off line. That goes for anyone. After the election, I have a "big idea" that I want to promote for our City. When Bill Brand and Steve Aspel both agree that my idea is promising, then I think we are on the right track. I'll be curious to learn what the City Manager has to say.
