Earthquake Rattles South Bay

A magnitude-3.9 earthquake struck about six miles south of the Palos Verdes Peninsula on Wednesday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A magnitude-4.0 earthquake struck about six miles south of the Palos Verdes Peninsula on Wednesday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Within 20 minutes, more than 450 people in 69 ZIP codes reported feeling the temblor, according to the USGS Community Internet Intensity Map. Weak shaking was apparently felt primarily along the coast from Thousand Oaks down to Dana Point.

No damage or injuries were reported, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. A representative of Southern California Edison said that no power outages had been reported.
