The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County decreased Sunday for the 19th consecutive day, falling 3.2 cents to $4.237.
The average price has dropped for 46.8 cents over the past 19 days, including 4.4 cents on Saturday, after rising 50.4 cents over the previous seven days and reaching a record high of $4.705, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price is 24.9 cents less than it was one week ago, but 10.1 cents more than one month ago and 37.7 cents higher than one year ago.
The dropping prices reflect a correction of California's temporary supply issue from refinery problems and an adjustment in demand expectations by wholesale and futures traders, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
