The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County decreased Sunday for the 40th consecutive day, falling seven-tenths of a cent to $3.839, its lowest amount since July 31.
The average price has decreased 86.6 cents over the past 40 days, including 1 cent on Saturday, after rising 50.4 cents over the previous seven days and reaching a record high of $4.705 on Oct. 9, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price is 7.4 cents less than one week ago and 74.9 cents lower than one month ago, but 3.4 cents more than one year ago.
The streak of dropping prices is the longest since a 57-day streak that ended July 13.
