Friends of Vicki Bergman, 59, and her 19-year-old daughter, Courtney, have organized a nondenominational memorial service at in Redondo Beach.
The service will take place March 26 at 7 p.m. and last for about an hour, according to family friend Robina Gold. After the service, food and beverages will be served in the hall next to the church.
People are welcome to bring food and beverages—excluding alcohol—to share with attendees.
A prayer will also be said for the pair during the noon Mass at St. James on Monday.
The Bergmans were found slain Feb. 28 in their apartment on Rockefeller Lane. Jonathan Chacon, 23, has been charged with capital murder with special circumstances in connection with their deaths. He's currently being held without bail; a second arraignment is scheduled for March 27.
Prosecutors have not yet decided whether to seek the death penalty in the case.
St. James Catholic Church is located at 415 Vincent St. in South Redondo Beach.
