Friends and family of Vicki Bergman and her daughter, Courtney, gathered in Lakeside, Calif., on Thursday to remember the women who were found slain in their Redondo Beach apartment on Rockefeller Lane on Feb. 29.
The "celebration of life" featured "quite the turn-out," according to relative Lelanea McGee-Hall. "We had a balloon release while our cousin Jake Crawford sang 'Amazing Grace.'"
Jonathan Chacon, 23, is being held without bail on two counts of capital murder with special circumstances in connection with the Bergmans' deaths. Prosecutors have not decided whether to seek the death penalty.
