Poll: Where's Redondo's Worst Intersection?

Cast your vote for the intersection that you hate, then leave a comment telling us why it's the worst in Redondo Beach.

What's the worst intersection in Redondo Beach? Is it the spot where Anita/190th Street, Catalina Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway meet in South Redondo Beach? Or maybe the stop signs on top of the hill at Flagler Lane and 190th Street?

What about all the intersections on Artesia Boulevard?

Last week, . This week, it's time to vote for the street corner you dread the most. Once you've voted, leave a comment telling us why you hate that intersection. Vent, fume and fulminate all you like, but please keep the language clean.

The winner will be selected by a combination of poll votes and comments. Patch editors will have the final say over which spot gets the dubious recognition of worst intersection in Redondo Beach.

The poll closes at 9 a.m. Friday, and we'll announce the results Friday afternoon.

Anita/190th and PCH is the worst intersection by far! Between the malfunctioning left turn light on PCH (southbound) that takes you up the hill on Anita/190th -- sometimes it NEVER turns green or only lets 3 cars turn when there are 12 in line --AND the lanes at the bottom of Anita/190th as you approach PCH (that were changed a few years ago) which creates a bottleneck of traffic on the hill which causes unneccessary stress on your breaks and confuses drivers who change lanes last minute....it's the worst intersection! Plus, the new lane that takes you under the Redondo Beach welcome sign confuses drivers all the time. The whole intersection is just an accident waiting to happen!

Before Anita/190th, I think it starts with the turn from Catalina to PCH. Everytime, without fail, vehicles in the left turn lane swing wide and cut off drivers in the rightside left hand turn lane or nearly smash into them. I see it everyday, people on their phone, putting on makeup or just being inconsiderate. Sometimes they cut from the far left straight to the right turn lane at 190th across 3 lanes. Why is it so hard for folks to follow a dotted white lline?! That is the worst intersection in RB filled with some of the worst drivers.

I actually think the intersection one block up from PCH and Torrance Blvd is the worst. It's Torrance Blvd and Francisca. There is a traffic signal on Torrance Blvd, but Francisca only has a stop sign. Confusing for RB Pier visitors who don't know the area.
Then, if a pedestrian wants to cross Torrance Blvd, even after the light changes and the ped has the "walk" signal, cars frequently run the red light. I've seen so many near misses between motor vehicle and pedestrian. Very dangerous...

The Anita/190th & PCH five-point intersection is extremely dangerous. People find it difficult to see that there is a lane that merges into Catalina Avenue. Quite often when I am in the Westbound190th Left Turn lane to turn South onto PCH, vehicles in the 190th Westbound number two lane at that intersection -- obligated by law to turn into the Catalina Avenue merge lane -- illegally turn South onto PCH. But there is no lane for them on PCH. So they turn into my lane, effectively turning into my car (when I turn into the number two lane of PCH). I honk my horn all the time to avoid an accident. These people don't even seem to be aware of their infraction. Never a cop when you need one. This intersection, this hazard, might be made safer by installing a dense line of reflective road markers to clearly outline the only option for vehicles to traverse from the 190th Westbound number two lane to the Catalina Avenue merge lane. The reflective markers on the pavement should outline each side of their lane and be spaced close together. The casual driver, and many people seem to take driving too casually, needs to notice that they are obviously in a lane that guides them.
